The 2018 Reading Challenge - #44 - A Book tied to your Ancestry
Hi guys :)
Hope you´re doing fine! Again just a quick little review today.
The category was by far not my favourite so far...don´t really know why...also defining the borders or the pool from which I could choose a book...well in the end I went vaguely for a geographic definition and went for:

Das Urteil or The Judgement
by Franz Kafka
by Franz Kafka
"The Judgment" ("Das Urteil") is a short story written by Franz Kafka in 1912, concerning the relationship between a man and his father.¹
Again a little summary from goodreads:
*
""The judgment" is considered the most autobiographical of Kafka's stories. First, there are Kafka's own commentaries and entries in his diary. When he re-read the story, for instance, he noted that only he could penetrate to the core of the story which, much like a newborn child, "was covered with dirt and mucus as it came out of him"; he also commented in his diary that he wanted to write down all possible relationships within the story that were not clear to him when he originally wrote it. This is not surprising for a highly introverted writer like Kafka, but it does illustrate the enormous inner pressure under which he must have written "The judgment.""

I´ll give it a 7 out of 10
This is probably the shortest "book" I ever read and when I chose this I did not even realise it to be honest. The book you see above was part of a little collection which was a gift and I never opened the book until the day I read it and realised the story I chose only had 21 pages ;) hahaha not complaining at all I read it in the shortest time and have time to catch up on other which I have not finished yet and to start those coming up next ;)
It is kind of a typical weird and twisted and strange Kafka Story on which end you just think "Ya great and now?" I actually like Kafkas work a lot and am not surprised...well just by how short the Judgement was ;) and I turned the page expecting more and found the beginning of The Metamorphosis which came next in the book and yes I was confused ;) and my head was full of theories, explanations and interpretations ;) That´s was Kafka does, isn´t it ^^

Again you´ll have to find a book yourself, you know your ancestry best ;)
If you´d like me to suggest some book let me know what I have to look for and I´ll try to find something :)

Which book did you choose for this category?
Did you read The Judgement? Lets talk about Kafka and his work - I know its a huge topic to talk about and I remember the year in school we talked about The Metamorphosis...yes that is how long you can talk about one book ^^
With lots of love
