The 2018 Reading Challenge - #7 - A Book Set in a Country that fascinates you

Hello bookworms :)
What are you doing on this wonderful evening?
and more importantly what are you reading ;)
My book for today is for the category - A Book Set in a Country that fascinates you and the country fascinating me most atm for years now is Iceland. I cant wait to go there hopefully very soon. Its just such an incredible place! So naturally I chose a book by an icelandic author set in Iceland and it is:

Snowblind
by Ragnar JĂ³nasson

Again a little summary from goodreads:

*
"Siglufjörður: an idyllically quiet fishing village in Northern Iceland, where no one locks their doors – accessible only via a small mountain tunnel. Ari ThĂ³r Arason: a rookie policeman on his first posting, far from his girlfriend in Reykjavik – with a past that he’s unable to leave behind. When a young woman is found lying half-naked in the snow, bleeding and unconscious, and a highly esteemed, elderly writer falls to his death in the local theatre, Ari is dragged straight into the heart of a community where he can trust no one, and secrets and lies are a way of life. An avalanche and unremitting snowstorms close the mountain pass, and the 24-hour darkness threatens to push Ari over the edge, as curtains begin to twitch, and his investigation becomes increasingly complex, chilling and personal. Past plays tag with the present and the claustrophobic tension mounts, while Ari is thrust ever deeper into his own darkness – blinded by snow, and with a killer on the loose."

I´ll give it a 8.5 out of 10
I´m running late, I have no time so a very very short little review for today ;) Hope that´s okay
I loved this book...again...I know...I just seem to lave everything do I ^^
But that´s it I loved it. Its so thrilling from the very beginning. I hardly could put it down and that only in the first like 50 pages...love that in a book ;)
The main character of the story is a young and kind of troubled rookie cop called Ari ThĂ³r, who got his first job as a police man in Siglufjörour,
a fishing community in the north of Iceland.
He leaves his medical student girlfriend behind him in ReykjavĂk and his own interrupted theology studies which he interrupted to become a cop.
So Ari ThĂ³r moves to Siglufjörour but soon enough the tranquility gets disturbed by the apparently accidental death of one of the leading citizen, a grand old man of Icelandic literature. What is behind that and what happened, you will soon find out. You´ll soon find out everything about the people in town and the dark things that happen to them, violent intruders, brutal attacks and murder. The worsening weather wont help since the town gets locked down by an avalange.
Snowblind is a so called locked-room mystery including a murder investigation and other crimes but within a closed society meaning a limited number of suspects.
Its written in a certain kind of way skipping from viewpoint to viewpoint, from character to character showing you how all their lives linked - definitely confusing sometimes but also a perfect style to tell such a story and at least its not too hard to follow the story and the clues which are amazingly created and quite traditional and therefore familiar to thriller lovers ^^ I liked it ;)
You won´t be able to put it down believe me ^^
Its a great book and I can recommend it to everyone who likes books which make you read all night through and books with a thrilling and compelling plot.
