The 2018 Reading Challenge - #5 - A Nordic Noir
Hello everyone :)
How are you doing? Everything alright?
At this point I have to admit...I´m really struggling...again...maybe I´m just not made to read a book a week...even tho I am doing it like this for years now ;)
It might be because I work the whole day now and am way to tired to do anything in the evenings?

Well whatever it is, today I have a new book which I was able to finish in time and its for the category - A Nordic Noir -
by Jo Nesbø
To be honest at first I did not even know what a Nordic Noir was...never heard of it before...shame on me ;) and since I thought I might not be the only onw here is a short definition from oxforddictionaries.com
"A type of Scandinavian crime fiction and television drama that typically features dark storylines and bleak urban settings."
If you want to know more about the genre click here for a longer definition and introduction and everything else!
The Bat (Norwegian: Flaggermusmannen, "Bat Men") is a 1997 crime novel by Norwegian writer Jo Nesbø, the first in the Harry Hole series.
A little summary from amazon this time:
*
"Harry is out of his depth. Detective Harry Hole is meant to keep out of trouble. A young Norwegian girl taking a gap year in Sydney has been murdered, and Harry has been sent to Australia to assist in any way he can. He's not supposed to get too involved. When the team unearths a string of unsolved murders and disappearances, nothing will stop Harry from finding out the truth. The hunt for a serial killer is on, but the murderer will talk only to Harry. He might just be the next victim. Appearing in English for the first time, "The Bat" is the legendary first novel from the worldwide phenomenon Jo Nesbo."

I´ll give it a 9 out of 10
I loved this a lot. I heard a lot good stuff about this series and the author or better read ;) and I have to say I 100% agree ^^
I love his style a lot, I love that you feel the story and the characters from the very beginning. Its just one of those books everyone says they prefere one which does not need 100 pages to let seomthing happen...one of those that somehow grab you from the first sentence and gives you that feeling of "I know I´m gonna read nights away" ;) and that very simply makes this book amazing ;) and I cant wait to read all the other books in the series! btw there are 11 and the second one is called Cockroaches. Here is a link to a goodreads list with all of them.
And thats it I really just can say I enjoyed reading it a lot...mine has 425 pages which felt like 150. Its such a thrilling, entertaining, quick and amazing read, its over before you even realise it! Highly recommended ^^ ( the best of the series is supposed to be The Snowman which is the seventh book...cant wait to get there ;))
