ALL THOSE COLOURS OF SPRING: TARTE TARTEIST™ LIP CRAYON
Lip liners, lip crayons or lip pencils - for some reason those are quite rare in my collection, especially liners. A fact I actually do not really get to be honest ;) especially because lipstick tends to very easily "bleed" out on my lips, especially liquidy or very creamy formulas.
So...one day when there was a huge sale over on the Tarte website I just went wild and bought a few ^^
And I have to say, I´m quite happy I did.
The Tarte Lips Crayons are gorgeous in general and there are so many amazing shades to pick.
I might not be in love with them or head over heels amazed but I do not regret buying them either.
All of them are nice and soft and the pigmentation is amazing but at the same time not all of them are easy to apply and blend because of their quite dry formula.
They work really nicely as lipliner in combination with a lipstick or gloss on top but also look nice on their own...even tho I gotta admit that that is not the most comfortable choice...
I quite often wear them without a lipstick on top but I always add a balm or gloss.
The formulation seems similar in every shade but I also noticed some differences in how soft and creamy some are and others are a bit dryer and harder so therefore not as easy so apply.
But none of them is really uncomfortable to apply and all of them stay on very nicely but also break quite easily so you gotta be careful when you apply them.
The website says:
"What it is:

What it does:
The versatile 2-in-1 lip crayon helps you create vibrant tarteist™ looks no matter your skill level thanks to its creamy, easy-glide formula that deposits rich, hydrating pigment in just one simple stroke.
Powered by:
Vitamin E: a natural preservative that also acts as an emollient and antioxidants
Mineral pigments: soothe and soften skin"
I got five different shades and tried to get one for all colours ;) each shade is swatched once on its own and once with gloss/balm on top.
Latergram
Latergram is a gorgeous mauvy nude shade with cooler undertones - perfect for a everyday look and lovely in combination with pretty much every other colour.
This shade is a bit more on the dry side formulation wise, but it´s nice and smooth to apply and stays on a nice long time through out the day without crumbling or breaking. On its own it has a very nice matte finish and its gorgeous with a gloss on top.
Magic Wand
Magic Wand is a lovely vibrant berryish pink shade - a perfect shade to add a pop of colour and one of my faves to combine with a neutral eye look.
This again is a bit dryer in formulation but more comfortable than Latergram.
Mood Ring
Mood Ring is one of my faves in every aspect. A beautiful berry shade with the most flattering undertones. It´s more on the pinky side than a purple but it´s a really lovely warm tone.
The formulation in this is the loveliest creamy version of all the crayons I´ve got. It´s really comfortable and soft with a more shiny finish than the others and a gloss does not even make that much of a difference.
Squad
Squad is the darkest shade I´ve got and it´s also my least favourite.
I do love the dark burgundy shade with its warmer brownish undertones but the formulation is the worst for me. I mean worst as in the worst of all the crayons I´ve got not the worst in general ;)
It´s quite dry and really hard to apply evenly (as you can see in the pic above). It´s hard to blend and almost impossible to layer and its not comfortable at all. But - huge but - it gets a lot better when you but a gloss/balm on top, so much better in every aspect. More comfortable, prettier, easier to make it look nice.
Thirsty
You know me and my love for red lips ;)
This shade was the most exciting one for me and the first one I´ve tried ;) and it´s my favourite together with Mood Ring. It´s such a beautiful true red shade with the most beautiful hues to it - so flattering.
Its formulation is amazing, so soft and comfortable and so easy to apply and blend. It is, together with Mood Ring, one of the shades is prefer to wear on its own without anything to top it off which might be because I always kind of think that a glossy red lip looks bit funny ;)
And those are all the colours I got. I think in general there are about 10 shades you can get and all the colours look amazing.
Also I wanted to add that everything I said is totally due to my personal experience.
I myself find it difficult to say a general conclusion about these because they are so different, which makes me wonder weather I just got a few bad examples of the products or if they really are that different in formulation due to the different colours...not sure about that.
But if I`d have to say one opinion about all of them I´d say try them ;) but I´d recommend to keep your eyes open for a sale because 20€ are to much in my opinion. Get yours on the Tarte website.
Have you every tried the Tarteist Crayons? What do you think about them?
Let me know which lip pencils are your favourite, especially for a liquid lipstick base :)
I hope you have a wonderful day and lovely week!
xx
